Prayers for Pearl

Toronto Pearl needs our help.

Her father has taken ill and is in the hospital. I think she would like her blogging friends to pray for her dad.

Pearl is the second person I met in the blogosphere and has become my friend. She is generous and caring and worries about EVERYONE.

Now it's our turn to do all we can to worry about her. And her dad. And her family.

So, whatever your faith, or beliefs, or ways of putting a good word in upstairs are...this would be the time to find it in your heart to do so.

We are all with you in thought and spirit and heart, Pearl.

Pearl was so very kind and concerned when my own father was deathly ill last year. I will never forget her support and well wishes.

Pearl, I have forwarded your father's name to be on our mesheberach list at shul. Please know that an entire congregation in Arlington, TX is praying for your father's recovery.

Poor Pearl. I’m sorry.

Hey. Is there any reason we can’t do an online mi sheberach (prayer for a sick person)? Someone stop me if this violates some obscure rabbinic law (but doesn’t everything?) but otherwise, please stand up, read this in Hebrew or in English and respond. [Transliteration is mine. Sorry if it stinks.]

Mi sheberach avotainu Avraham, Itzhak, v’Ya’akov, Moshe, Ahron, David, u’Shlomo, hu ivarech et hachole Yaakov Arieh ben Chaya Malka ba’avur shecal hakahal mitpalelim ba’avuro. Bischar ze, hakadosh baruch hu imle rachamim alav, lhachalimo ulrafoto ulhachaziko ulhachayoto, veyshalch lo mera refua shlema min hasamayim, b’toch sar choley yisrael, refuat hanefesh, urefuat haguf, hashta, ba’agala, uvizman kariv. Venomar…

He Who blessed our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Moses, Aaron, David, and Solomon – may He bless and heal the sick person Yaakov Arieh son of Chaya Malka because the entire congregation prays for him. In reward for this, may the Holy One, Blessed is He, be filled with compassion for him to restore his health, to heal him, to strengthen him, and to revivify him. And may he send him speedily a complete recovery from heaven among the other sick people of Israel, a recovery of the body and a recovery of the spirit, swiftly and soon. And let us say…

Doc...you deserve an extra thanks, no one has ever actually written a prayer on my blog...I feel blessed! (and so does Pearl)
