"I'll have what she's having!"

When Harry Met Sally...the movie that seems to show up on the "favorite movies" list of almost every female blogger.

GUILTY!

I love this movie.

I have watched this movie at least
20 times (not in it's entirety, but everytime I pass by it on t.v., I can't help but watch again).

I think the writing is hilarious and sweet and touching.

And so true to what men and women think and want.

Even the music selection is brilliant.

But I'm just curious...why do so many other women include this movie in their favorites?

What is it that brings you back to these characters again and again?

Men, feel free to answer as well. (My husband loves this movie too, but don't tell him I told you, please)

Great flick! I would imagine there's a little bit of Harry (and Sally) in all of us. I especially like the interludes of the "real" couples telling their stories.

Actually, after my wife and I got engaged we recorded our own little video flick in the style of those couples. Its kinda hilarious!

Okay, aside from the great soundtrack and deli scene -- "I'll have what she's having!" -- what brings me back is the sweetness of the movie...the mating dance, so to speak. They (Meg and Billy)hate each other, they're curious about each other, they try out each other, etc. They continually try to build a house of cards, but it falls down around them, and then finally they get it secure enough to stand upright. Like many other relationships we see develop...

I don't know even where to begin. This was my movie from the moment I saw it in the theaters. Some of the other movies that were similar in nature, such as Sleepless in Seattle, just didn't have the chemistry that the characters in this movie do. I love everything that you wrote. I am very much like Sally. I have a huge crush on Harry, and their friends just cracked me up. But it's the friendship that really brings it home.
My husband also loves the movie, especially the stories that the real couples share. It's so endearing. From the time I met my husband, he always compared us to one of those cute old couples.

And btw, do I think that men and women can be friends, whether they are married or single? Absolutely. Three of my closest friends are men. It's just not an issue.

Wanderer: I love those interludes too. What a clever addition to the movie (would love to see the video of you and your wife!)

T.P.: Yep, boy hates girl, boy likes girl, boy gets girl, boy loses girl, and finally, boy gets girl.

S.T.: I feel exactly the same...I love the chemistry, Carrie Fischer and Bruno Kirby were great too.
By the way, are your men friends married?

Mia: Yes, the romance thing is great in this movie.

Neil: A marriage without friendship is no marriage at all. My husband and I can still make eachother laugh like no other, even after 20 plus years.

Yes, two of the men are married and one is divorce (I promised I had nothing to do with it.)

My husband also has several close women friends, including two of his ex's, that I am good friends with as well.

Jack: you take your life in your hands saying that around here.

Jack, sounds like you really are closet fan. Sorta like when Melrose Place was all the rage, but noone wanted to ever admit they watch it. It's ok Jack...your secret is safe with us. ; )

Looks like Sweettooth has outed Jack.

Rebecca: Welcome! your husband is a smart man.
